Idea change and apologies.

Ok, So I havent been on here for a while because I completely forgot my login details, but I have them no so I can get back to work. Apologies for taking so long to sort it out.

Wes Craven and George Romero are prooving to be a bit uninteresting to me as their direction isn't really something that really amazes me. It seems quite similar in each film that I have seen of theirs so I have decided to take my research in a completely different direction. I hope it is not too late to do this as I have done some reading into my new subject and quite frankly, I love it so much so why not research about it eh?

SPECIAL EFFECTS!!!

This is what I want to research, and I have already done some in the past which I find fascinating. I have begun to research the beginnings of special effects in film. These date back to the late 1890's! I originally thought that special effects began in the 30's with animated monsters such as "King Kong!" but then again, that is a more general special effect.

What I am trying to do is look at all types of special effects from the simple effects such as the dummy replacement for Alfred Clark's reenactment of Mary, Queen of Scots, to the overly used CGI we see in films today. Ok I guess that is my opinion of CGI, but it does seem that CGI is being used a lot these days, even for trivial things where a puppet or some form of mechanical effect could do the job just as well, maybe even better.

Rant over.

I hope to even experiment with some simple effects on camera with just simple optical effects to simple CG effects created with Premier and/or After Effects. I say simple because I am hopeless with 3D modeling and I don't think it's expected of me to go that far.

So now I have my login details for Blogger again, I will frequently update my findings and hopefully put together a nice portfolio of research, and maybe some funky video effects too.
