So I have a LoveFilm account and Wes Craven's Red Eye was on my list. I was there before I started this project but It arrived yesterday.
It was a good film I have to say and Cillian Murphy was great as always.
It is a very Craven Film I have to say. There are a number of shots which are similar to the film Scream such as the extablishing shot of the house. It seems Craven likes to use a lot of long shots to establish his house settings which seem to be secluded from civilisation.
The last scene set in the house where Rachel McAdam's character is being chased by Cillian Murphy's character is very tense and has a lot of similarities to Scream such as McAdam throwing things down the stairs at Murphy as he chases her up them. I'm not sure if this was entirely Craven's choice or wether it was just was already in the script, either way it reminded me much of Scream.
There are quite a few scenes of main characters falling over with ground shots which capture their fall to the floor, again these are present in Scream.
I will have to watch some of Craven's older films to see if this is a frequent trend for him but so far, it looks like Craven has a very strict style which he carries in all his films.
Going to watch Scream tonight and refresh my memory of it.
